Urjaa Guru Arihant Rishi Maharaj (Mumbai), the disciple of Mahamana Acharya Kushagranandi, on Monday demanded that Ujjain be declared a holy city. At a press conference in Hotel Samay, Vaswani Plaza he declared, “Public movement will be the only way left if government ignores our demand.”
Urjaa Guru has been repeatedly demanding holy city status for Ujjain. He urged the state government for speedy decision and said that a letter in this regard has been sent to Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Kamal Nath and local administration. He further said that efforts were being made to bring all prominent saints on a common platform to press for the demand and announced that a public strategy would be chalked out soon.
He said that administration’s failure to react positively to the demand could result in a mass movement. He clarified that the issue was purely sentimental and had nothing to do with any political party. According to him, if the administration of the state does not take any positive action on this, then it will be made huge mass movement. He also made it clear that the issue is purely related to sentiments and he has nothing to do with any political party.
Urjaa Guru said, there are seven such cities in India where the land is considered to be a holy place to bless us with the auspicious results. Ujjain is one of those cities. Ujjain city is known as the city of Mahakal, which is the meditation place of Lord Mahavira. Keeping this in view, tourists from all over the world visit Ujjain to pay their respect and to worship Mahakal.
He said that if there are shops like meat and liquor near the temple premises in Ujjain, then somewhere it is like a joke with the sanctity of faith and the holy place. He demanded that there should be special care of purity here. Along with cleanliness, attention should be paid to promote sattvik food and sattvik behaviour.
