Panchkula: Woman dies after being run over, husband injured

PANCHKULA: A woman lost her life while her husband was seriously injured after their motorbike was hit by an auto-rickshaw. Before they could get up another rashly driven vehicle coming from behind ran over them. The victim's five-year-old son also received minor injuries. A case of negligent driving has been registered in this connection.


A complaint was given to the cops by Harsh Kumar (25), a resident of B-3, Bhima Devi Colony, Pinjore. In the complaint, he stated that his elder brother Suresh Kumar, his sister-in-law Meena, five-year-old nephew were going to the Kali Mata Temple in Kalka around 9.45am on Sunday on their motorbike, having a registration number HR-49-A-4080. When they reached near Government College, Kalka, an auto-rickshaw driver, who was driving his vehicle in a rash manner, came from behind and hit their motorbike. After being hit, they fell on the road and the auto-rickshaw also overturned on the road.


Till the time they could regain their senses, a speeding mini-transport vehicle having registration number HR-68-B-2814 coming from behind ran over them and the four-wheeler driver fled from the spot. All three were rushed to the community health centre, Kalka, from where she was rushed to the PGIMER, Chandigarh. On reaching there, Meena was declared brought dead while Suresh was admitted to the hospital. Their son was discharged after being given first-aid and carrying out preliminary investigations.


A case was registered on the basis of the complaint given by Harsh.
