Ludhiana: Betting racket busted, seven held

JALANDHAR: Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Monday busted IPL cricket betting racket and arrested seven persons and 18 mobile phones fitted in two briefcases have also been recovered from them.
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that racket, busted on after receiving a tip off, was being operated by Mukesh Kumar alias Sethi, resident of Krishna Nagar, along with others. He said that they had registered themselves with a UK based company Betacular.com where betting was legal by paying Rs 10000 in January this year and downloaded a mobile application bettingassistantibook.
Mukesh is a car dealer and has links with Delhi based persons, Bhullar said. He said that chargers, two laptops, two mikes, speakers and two cars and Rs 23000 cash were recovered from them. A case under sections 420, 120 B of IPC and under provisions of Gambling Act was registered against them.
