Mumbai: 4 held for card detail theft to buy IPL tickets

MUMBAI: Cyber police arrested a gang of four who used stolen credit/debit card details to purchase IPL tickets for matches at Wankhede stadium from an online agent and sold them in the open market.


Akash Gosalia, Keval Gosalia, Manish Monani and Vijay Naresh Rajput were arrested under IPC sections for forgery, cheating and breach of trust, and under IT Act, said DCP Vishal Thakur. Police said they knew how to extract 14-digit numbers of debit cards and even forged cards, using them to buy passes for matches at Wankhede. The complainant firm is into online ticket sales. It learnt that fake passes were being sold since March 24. The gang purchased 68 passes of a match, causing a loss of Rs 2.35 lakh.


“After registering a complaint we blocked the passes. When the customers came to watch the match, we took them into custody,” said investigating officer Pramod Kopikar.
