CHENNAI: TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the ongoing Lok Sabha election is a farce and the most costliest election he has have ever seen.
“All income tax searches happen only on the premises opposition leaders. The ruling party is spending so much for elections and there are no searches by the income tax department to know the source for the money. The election is a farce. It is the most costliest election I have ever seen,” he told reporters here.
Naidu called on DMK Rajya Sabha members T K S Elangovan and R S Bharathi to extend his party’s support to the Davidian party. DMK president M K Stalin was not present as he was campaigning in Tiruvarur district on the last day of campaigning.
“I am here with a mission to appeal to the voters of Tamil Nadu. Democracy is in danger and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done injustice to the nation,” Naidu said introducing DMK candidates contesting in three Chennai constituencies.
He raised doubts about the working of EVMs and VVPATs. “Only three countries are using EVMs. In the recent elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, there were several complaints of EVMs malfunctioning. How can we trust these?,” Naidu said.
“Modi always created troubles for non-BJP states. After results, all parties will join together due to democratic compulsions. Now they are facing some political compulsions and are divided,” he said.
