Dumka: Police have filed an FIR against Dumka local court advocate Samira Viswas for an alleged social media posting a picture of wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman with a caption ‘Ab faisla aapka’. The post said PM Narendra Modi ensured Abhinandan’s release from Pakistan’s captivity after his jet was shot down in PoK in February. It also urged the people to vote for Modi in the Lok Sabha polls. Viswas also allegedly quoted the wing commander as saying his release was possible only because Modi was the PM.
The FIR against Viswas was lodged on Monday night following a complaint from district Congress president Shyamlal Kishor Singh. In the complaint, Singh said Viswas’s post was aimed at influencing electorates and is a violation of the model code of conduct.
Officer in-charge of Town PS Devbrat Poddar said no arrest has been made so far and they are investigating the case. “An FIR has been lodged under Sections 183 and 171 (C, V, F) of the IPC,” he said. Viswas on the other hand said, “No one has approached me yet. I will put forward my view when I am being questioned.”
