People misled on GST by NDA, say small industry assns
Coimbatore: The BJP-AIADMK alliance has been misleading people on the effect of GST on MSME units in the district, a group of small industry associations from the district said

In the joint release issued on Tuesday, district chapter of Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Micro Enterprises (TACT), Kovai Power Driven Pumps and Spares Manufacturers Association (KOPMA) and district chapter of Tamil Nadu Grill Manufacturers Welfare Association said BJP candidate for Coimbatore constituency C P Radhakrishnan had been making contradictory statements about GST. “Radhakrishnan had earlier said they would reduce GST from 18% to 5% if they come to power. But later, in a press meet he made a statement that GST had not caused any adverse effects and the owners of closed MSME units have settled abroad. On another occasion, he said only those who had been doing business without giving bills, which was against the law, had been affected by GST. Such contradictory statements have caused distress and distrust among small industrialists. Such statements would cause adverse effects,” the release said.
