New Delhi: Mining conglomerate Vedanta is rolling out a succession planning programme in which all leaders, from CEO to assistant managers, will develop two or three people working under them to take their position, said the group's chief human resource officer Madhu Srivastava.

Called the 'leadership development pyramid', this programme is set to become a part of the key performance indices (KPIs) of all employees. The programme will be rolled out in a month, she said.

Srivastava also said that as the company had a high growth strategy for the next two years, under which it would invest $8-10 billion, it would need internal leaders to take up key positions. Under the programme, leaders would be responsible for identifying and continuously "anchoring" future leaders, for example by referring them for any external education or coaching.

Leaders would essentially be responsible for the career path of the people they chose, said Srivastava.
