Goa : Contractor snubs health rules, gets Rs 20,00 fine COLVA: The primary health centre at Chinchinim has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for the second time upon a contractor linked to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for failure to obtain health cards for his workmen.

In December 2018, the health centre had asked the site supervisor, where the workmen were employed, to secure health cards for the workmen. He failed to do so and a penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed, which is yet to be honoured.

Recently, the health officer found a new set of workmen at the site and again directed the contractor to secure health cards.

However, he did not pay heed, thereby attracting a penalty of Rs 10,000. The same is yet to be honoured.

Health officer Nixon Fernandes told TOI that he wrote to the corporation, but there was no response.

When asked, contractor Anthony Souza said he would direct his supervisor to immediately prepare the health cards and also, he is bound by the penalty imposed.
