MUMBAI: Maharashtra
BJP minister
Chandrakant Patil on Monday claimed that Prime Minister
Narendra Modi is keen to defeat Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s daughter
Supriya Sule from the Baramati constituency in Maharashtra.
“We were leaving after a hectic meeting in Delhi that got over at 2.15 am; this was when Modi ji called me back and asked me to call Deven (Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis) as well. He (Modi) told us, dada bitiya girni chahiye,” (the daughter should be defeated).
Addressing a rally, Patil said BJP’s campaigning in Baramati had also unnerved her father, Sharad Pawar.
“Earlier Pawar used to come to Baramati on the last day of the campaigning to address a rally, but now he is addressing four rallies a day -- he has no option because Sule is his daughter.”
BJP has fielded Kanchan Kul against Sule. Kanchan is the wife of Daund
Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) MLA from Daund.
Patil, who claims that he is very close to PM Modi, has been insisting that Sule is going to lose from Baramati.
