Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Fatehpura, Ramesh Katara, stoked a controversy when he allegedly threatened voters saying those who fail to vote for the saffron party will be identified and won't be given jobs.

Asking people to vote for the BJP, the Fatehpura MLA claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has installed cameras inside the polling booth and will know who has voted for who.

"There should not be any room for error as Narendra Modi has installed cameras inside the polling stations this time. We will know who has voted for Congress. Those who don't vote or vote for Congress will be identified and not given work," Ramesh Katara said as he campaigned for BJP candidate Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor from Dahod.

"Aadhaar and other cards have your photo now, if there are less votes from your booth, he will come to know who did not cast vote and will not get work," Ramesh Katara added.

Fatehpura BJP MLA Ramesh Katara also asked voters to only vote for
Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor.

"You will see the photo of Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor with the lotus symbol on the EVM. Look for that and press the button. There should not be any room for error," Ramesh Katara said.

Earlier, Union minister Maneka Gandhi was pulled up by the Election Commission for violating the Model Code of Conduct.

BJP leader Maneka Gandhi had asked the Mulsim community to vote for her in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections or else they would not receive any help when she is the lawmaker.

Maneka Gandhi had made the remark when she was addressing a gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur.

Maneka Gandhi also said that she would anyway win the Lok Sabha elections from Sultanpur with or without Muslim votes. A two-minute video of Maneka Gandhi threatening Sultanpur Muslims had gone viral on social media.
