Jet Airways board proposes temporary shutdown

16 Apr 2019 by Sanchita Nambiar

According to industry reports, Jet Airways management has proposed to suspend all operations of the crisis-hit airline. There is no official confirmation on this yet, however, a final call will be taken by the management by end of today.

The decision of holding the board meeting was taken after SBI-led consortium of lenders was unable to decide on releasing interim funds for the Jet rescue, on Monday.

Expressing his views on this ongoing chaos, Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation tweeted:

The board is reviewing all options before deciding on the temporary suspension of operations. The airline has already stopped all international flights.

Meanwhile, Naresh Goyal has withdrawn from bidding for Jet Airways after Etihad Airways and TPG Capital threatened to walk out of the rescue deal if Goyal was part of it.
