Illicit liquor worth Rs 25 lakh seized, 1 held

Varanasi: The police, on Tuesday, seized a huge consignment of illicit liquor worth Rs 25 lakh being smuggled to Bihar and arrested a person in Ramnagar area. The police also recovered a pistol and two cartridges from him.
According to reports, during a checking drive, the police caught a truck loaded with 4,560 bottles of liquor in 270 cartons near a dhaba on the national highway. The recovered liquor was meant for sale in Haryana only. The arrested person was identified as Ghulam Qadir of Punjab.
Ramnagar SI Prem Narayan Singh said that the arrested person was booked under sections of Excise Act and Arms Act.
