Amravati: Bringing curtains down on the saffron alliance campaigning in Amravati Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray appealed to a massive gathering to bless Anand Adsul once again in order to ensure yet another Modi regime at the Centre.
“Amravati is a Shiv Sena fort and there are many in the fray trying to wrest it back, but they will not succeed because they don’t have their own candidate here,” Thackeray said in an indirect reference to Sharad Pawar. “NCP chief (Pawar) himself has fled from the battle field,” he quipped.
Striking an emotional bond with the gathering, Thackeray said, “I don’t need to do anything different to win Amravati seat because it is a place of my grandparents who belonged to Paratwada.” Thackeray said Adsul is a man who fights for ensuring justice to the constituency.
Expressing satisfaction at the presence of new and old Sena leaders on the dais, Thackeray lamented the absence of late MLA Sanjay Band and said the party will stand firmly behind his family.
Commenting on BJP-Sena alliance, he said the tie-up was firm because it has god, nation and religion in it.
Playing the temple card, Thackeray said, “I had been to Ayodhya to demand Ram temple there. BJP manifesto mentions it very clearly. On the other hand, Congress manifesto does not have a mention of Ram temple even though Rahul Gandhi moves from temple to temple seeking blessings.” Thackeray said things were moving in the right direction as 65 acre land has been handed over to the Trust and the disputed land issue would be resolved through court. He assured the gathering that Ram temple would come up.
Criticising Sharad Pawar for campaigning for an independent candidate (Navneet Rana) here, Thackeray asked, “Whose campaign Pawar is doing here? He is campaigning for a candidate who has no loyalty to any party, nor to the constituency.”
“These Congress-NCP leaders have indulged in all sorts of scams and did not spare a single alphabet to name the scam. Their children must have learnt their A, B, C from the names of these scams. Five years ago, Sena published a booklet highlighting their scams. They are all dacoits and now they are calling others a thief,” Thackeray said.
Speaking about farmer suicides, Thackeray said mounting loans, inability to perform marriages of sons and daughters were the prime reasons behind suicides.
