Former Union minister and senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday demanded the government to immediately release the amount of ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme for the remaining 40% farmers as was announced in December last.
Talking to presspersons at the party office on Monday, he said it was unfortunate the there has been a delay in releasing the instalment for the farmers after 60% of the farmers beneficiaries were given in December first week.
‘Empty Treasury’
“It only shows that the Treasury is empty and there is no proper focus of the government on the agriculture issues. Adequate steps are not being taken to open more procurement centres for paddy across the State,” he said and charged that the Centre declared minimum support price too is not being given to the farmers. He said the issue has been brought to the notice of Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi and said unless the government intervenes, middlemen and millers may make use of the opportunity to cheat the farmers. He also demanded the govt. to hold an all party meeting on the PR polls and advised TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to await the general elections results before forecasting the fate of various parties.
