Ludhiana: Two days after a woman and her son committed suicide by jumping into a canal in Bassi Pathana of Fatehgarh Sahib, police are still searching for the body of the youth.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased cremated Jasveer Kaur, 46, a day after they blocked the link road, seeking arrest of people whom she had mentioned in her suicide note for the extreme step.
The police have booked four persons — Dr Balbir Shah, Dr Paramjit, Dr Jasmeet and CA Pawan Gupta — under the charges of abetment to suicide.
On Saturday, Jasveer Kaur, a nurse at a private nursing home in Model Town, and her son Dhan Krishan, 22, who worked in the accounts department at the same nursing home, had left the house in the morning. By evening, the relatives got to know that the duo had committed suicide.
The police had also found a suicide note from the motorcycle of the deceased in which he has accused Dr Balbir Shah, Dr Paramjit, Dr Jasmeet and CA Pawan Gupta of the respective nursing home of torturing them and forcing them to take the extreme step.
Sources said Dhan Krishan had made some wrong payment, due to which the hospital authorities were after him. They were harassing him and his mother to get the money.
Dalbeer Singh, nephew of Jasveer, said, “Initially, we had planned not to cremate her body till the arrest of accused. That was why, we had staged a protest outside the nursing home and then on the link road near the passport office. But today, we cremated her as police assured us to arrest the accused soon.”
Inspector Jagdeep Singh, SHO, Bassi Pathana police station, said, “The Fatehgarh Sahib police are in touch with Ludhiana police. We have conducted raids to arrest the accused, but they are at large.”
Body of the youth is yet to be fished out of the canal, he said.
