Bhopal: Modi’s policies rendered 25L LIC agents jobless, says Digvijaya Singh

Launching an attack on Central government, former chief minister Digvijaya Singh said that it has destroyed the public sector undertakings by promoting private companies. “In last five years more than 25 lakh Life Insurance Company agents have lost their jobs, due to the irrelevant financial policies of Narendra Modi-led government,” said Singh, Congress candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat.

In last five years, LIC has lost four crore policy holders, earlier there were 38 crore policy holders, the number now has come down to 34 crore, said Singh, addressing media persons here on Monday. The Congress leader claimed that LIC has been forced to give Rs 150 lakh crore loan to the railways and the interest of which would be paid after 2020.

The decision has created huge financial crisis for LIC as now it has to arrange salaries of its employees as well has to take ensure returns to its policy holders, said Singh.  Modi government is destroying the Navratna Companies, BHEL which earlier exported turbines. Today the government is importing turbines, rendering BHEL employees ‘jobless’, said Singh.

Cong using LIC name for political interest: BJP
BJP has filed a complaint with Election Commission accusing Congress of using the name of ‘LIC’ for political purpose. Party spokesperson Rahul Kothari alleged that the Congress leader was trying to create confusion over the government owned company for the politics.

People have full faith in LIC and they invested their saving in it, but the Congress leader is trying use the name of LIC for political and personal benefit, said BJP spokesman. We have approached ECI seeking a case against Congress leader for using LIC name for political interest, said Kothari. We have also urged the commission to direct that names of such agencies should not be used in political programmes, he added. The party will also file a complaint to the ministry of finance over the same.
