NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old youth from Bahadurgarh was gunned down by unknown men in southwest Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar on Saturday evening. The victim was preparing for SSC examinations. DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the victim has been identified as Tarun and a case of murder has been registered at Baba Haridas Nagar police station.

The incident occurred when Tarun was on his bike on the road near a drain. He was intercepted and shot from a close range. The shooter also took his bike and mobile phone.

Passersby took Tarun to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The body was shifted to the mortuary and handed over to his family after an autopsy.

Investigators suspect the role of a criminal from Bahadurgarh, who had recently come out on parole and was known to the victim, in the crime. Tarun’s family and friends told police that he often came to Delhi. A friend said that Tarun had been under stress for the past few days and had even shared that he had got stuck in a mess. However, he didn’t divulge what was bothering him or if he had got any threats.

Police are scanning CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the sequence of events. Haryana Police have also been alerted about the incident. The mobile phone of the deceased is being tracked and the motorcycle’s registration details have been shared with informers to locate it.
