Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha Constituency 2019: Tiruchirappalli parliamentary constituency will go to polls on April 18, which is the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019. The key contest in Tiruchirappalli in 2019 is going to be held among Congress’ Thirunnavukkarasar, BSP’s S Balamurugan and DMDK’s Dr V Elangovan. The polling in all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be held in the second phase.
AIADMK's P Kumar is the sitting MP who defeated M Anbhalagan of the DMK with a margin of close to 1.5 lakh votes.
Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 parliamentary constituencies where 7 of them including Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam have been reserved for candidates representing scheduled caste community. However, no seat here has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
According to the 2011 census data, Tiruchirappalli houses a total of 1,021,717 people out of which 507,180 are males and 514,537 are females. The district has an average literacy rate of 91.2%. The place is known as a leading engineering equipment manufacturer and economy here is majorly driven by retail shops and local business.

2014: P Kumar of the AIADMK received 458478 votes and he defeated M Anbhalagan of the DMK who only got 308002 votes.
2009: P Kumar of the of AIADMK received 298710 votes. He defeated Sarubala R Thondaiman Lalitha of the Congress who only got 294375 votes.
2004: L Ganesan of the MDMK received 450907 votes. He defeated M Paranjothi of the ADMK who only got 234182 votes.

Parliamentary elections 2019 are taking place in 7 phases. The first phase voting has already taken place which was held on April 11. The remaining phases will go to polls on April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.
