HC gesture towards young advocates

more-in

In a noble gesture, four young woman advocates practising at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court were given two-wheelers.

Administrative Judge of the High Court Bench Justice N. Kirubakaran handed over the keys and helmets to the advocates on Friday. The sitting judges at the High Court Bench and advocates took part in the event.

Justice N. Kirubakaran mooted the idea to benefit young advocates after T. Lajapathi Roy turned down his Advocate Commissioner remuneration, having assisted the court in a case related to sand quarry. Justice N. Kirubakaran, during the course of hearing, suggested that the amount could be utilised for the benefit of young advocates.

It was mooted that a common fund could be created and deserving advocates identified with the help of bar associations. Justice Kirubakaran appealed to senior advocates and other lawyers to come forward to help their counterparts in need. Following the suggestion, the advocates had agreed to come together for the noble cause.
