Rape case: accused surrenders

Shogan Ghadi, one of the four accused in the case of alleged rape of a woman from North Goa, has surrendered before the Panaji women police on Monday. He is lodged in police custody.

Last week, the High Court of Bombay at Goa and earlier the District and Session Court, Panaji had dismissed his anticipatory bail applications.

Last month, the Panaji women police had arrested Gauresh Ghadi and Suraj Shetye in connection with the crime. One more accused is absconding. The incident of alleged rape had occurred in February and a complaint in this regard was lodged by the mother of the victim.

According to the police, the victim is known to one of the accused. All the four accused are friends. The accused took advantage of the proximity of the woman with their friend and allegedly sexually abused her, informed the police.
