PATNA: An 18-year-old son of Nalanda bureau chief of a leading vernacular daily was found murdered at Hasanpur village under the Harnaut police station area in Nalanda Sunday night. Police said Ashwini Kumar alias Chintu, the son of Ashutosh Kumar, belonged to Hasanpur village, but the family lives at Harnaut. He occasionally used to visit his village.

Police said both his eyes were gouged out. Nalanda SP Nilesh Kumar told TOI over phone that it was yet not known how and why Ashwini reached the village as he also lived with his family at Harnaut.

“A special investigation team (SIT) would be formed to investigate the case. His body was found in a field outside the village with multiple injury marks,” he said.

The SP said the reasons behind the murder could not be ascertained yet as the family members were not in a position to tell anything to the police.
