Plans to visit Karnataka this week

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is likely to campaign in Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi, Jammu and other places.

Mr. Naidu on Monday visited Karnataka to take part in the election campaign in the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency where JD(S) candidate Nikhil is contesting against BJP-backed Independent Sumalatha. He addressed a rally at Pandavapura stadium.

He would visit Karnataka again on April 20 or 21 and seek the votes of the Telugu people in the State for the JD(S).

Mr. Naidu will be campaigning for the ruling JD(S)-Congress alliance on the request of JD(S) chief and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda. The former Prime Minister last week addressed an election rally for the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.

With elections to both Assembly and Lok Sabha completed in a single phase in Andhra Pradesh on April 11, Mr. Naidu will be campaigning for allies in other States, where elections are scheduled in subsequent phases.

The TDP chief would address meetings in a few Lok Sabha constituencies, especially those having sizeable Telugu-speaking people, TDP sources said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah had also addressed a couple of election rallies of the TDP. However, it was not clear when would Mr. Naidu visit West Bengal and Delhi to campaign for the Trinamool Congress and the Aam Admi Party respectively.
