Cops arrest youth for molesting 17-year-old girl

Picture used for representational purpose onlyPUNE: The Hinjewadi police on Saturday arrested a 21-year-old youth from a village near Hinjewadi for molesting the 17-year-old daughter of a grocery shop owner.
The incident happened on Thursday evening, when the suspect had gone to the shop under the pretext of buying cigarettes. At the time, the girl was alone in the shop.
"The suspect suddenly grabbed the girl. When she started to raise an alarm, the suspect shoved her away. The girl sustained injuries as she fell down," a police officer from Hinjewadi police station said.
The police investigation also revealed that the suspect also managed to obtain the cellphone number of the girl and started sending her messages continuously.
"The suspect has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as well as the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code," the police officer further said.
