Video of youths being ‘thrashed’ in Jammu and Kashmir goes viral

SRINAGAR: A two-minute video showing armed force personnel thrashing youths accompanying a militant’s body in a mini truck in Shopian district of south Kashmir went viral across J&K on Monday, even as the family of the militant denied that any such incident had taken place.
People on social media said the video was shot near Batapora on April 13 after clashes erupted following the killing of two militants in an encounter. The video purportedly shows a mini truck carrying the body of slain terrorist Shah Jahan Mir being stopped by about a dozen armed forces personnel, who rain blows at the youths inside.
The families of both the slain Jaish militants denied there was an incident of thra- shing. Police too denied that such an incident took place.
