LUCKNOW: A fire broke out and gutted 10 makeshift shanties in Mohinipurwa locality in Thakurganj on Sunday morning. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Chief fire officer (Lucknow) Vijay Kumar Singh said, "Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire flames. The fire broke out after a small gas cylinder caught fire."

Police suspect one of the locals might have been involved in gas refilling work, which could have led to the blaze.

Police said the incident occurred around 10.30am in a shanty owned by a local, Babu Ram, and soon it engulfed other huts.

As the residents ran out of their houses, some locals alerted the police.

"No casualty was reported while we are still estimating the loss of property. The local residents are yet to lodge a complaint," said Additional superintendent of police (west), Vikas Tripathi.

He said the occupants living in the were mostly migrant labourers from Chhattisgarh.
