Ranchi: A brief rainfall in the next two days will bring the much-needed respite from the sweltering heat prevailing in the state for almost a week now. In its weather bulletin on Monday, the Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for high speed wind which is likely to bring light rain and thundershowers at many places across the state.
The IMD bulletin said low to medium rainfall and thunderstorm are expected in northeast Dhanbad, Dumka, Deoghar, Giridih on Tuesday and in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Saraikela in the southeastern districts on Wednesday.
“There are chances of a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand resulting in thunderstorm, dusty wind and rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. The sudden expected change in weather will bring a great relief to people from the extreme heat prevailing now as it would cause the temperature to fall by two to three degrees. The speed of the dusty wind is likely to be around 45 kmph covering central and north western parts of the state,” said R S Sharma, a senior weather scientist at IMD’s Ranchi office.
On Monday, Daltonganj had experienced the highest maximum temperature of 43.3°C in the state, while Kanke in Ranchi recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 21.9° C.
