One killed in Hazaribag Ram Navami procession

Hazaribag: A brawl during a Ram Navami procession near Matwari petrol pump early on Monday morning led to the death of a 23-year-old Vicky Naik. The youth was stabbed by one Amar Singh. Police later dubbed the incident as an outcome of alleged rivalry between the two. The murder took place under Korah police station.
As a member of Korah Ram Navami Puja Samiti, Vicky was taking part in the procession when Amar allegedly stabbed him following an altercation. In his FIR, the deceased’s brother Nitesh claimed Amar killed Vicky due to some personal dispute. The accused is a resident of Jabra-Korah locality.
Soon after the incident, hundreds of supporters of Vicky rushed to Amar’s residence at Jabra-Korah road and set his house on fire. Fire brigade had to be summoned to control the blaze. The agitators also blocked NH-100 for more than four hours. The deceased was an autorickshaw driver.
On the other hand, scores of Ram Navami and Vijaya Dashami processions were carried out on Sunday and Monday. The processions witnessed participation of more than 2 lakh people and over 100 akharas displayed their skills.
Sources at Sadar hospital said that about 1,200 people sustained injuries while displaying sword and weapons play.
