5" we begin tonight in eugene where police have identified the man arrested for d-u-i-i after crashing into someone's yard...and getting away with another person's car...before crashing again.
Thank you for joining us -- i'm amber wilmarth.
That man is facing a long list of charges tonight... and kezi 9 news reporter madison glassman spoke to one man who saw the entire incident go down...and tells her eugene is not what it used to be.
"eugene is getting stupid."
That's what a witness...who asked to remain anonymous...thoug ht when this incident turned his saturday night upside down.
Sot: "i stayed home to get away from trouble and then trouble came to my neighborhood."
Police say 37-year- old andrew dingwall from walton crashed his lexus*here in a yard on the corner of lorane highway and washington street...completely damaging this fence.
Sot: "by the time i got down here, i heard a girl...this happened so quick, but i heard a girl scream and was down the street down here on washington so i started running to see where the scream was coming from and a girl was running toward me saying a guy had just attacked."
Shortly after dingwall crashed....police say dingwall got into the passenger seat of a woman's s-u- v...grabbing her.
They say she got free....but so did dingwall....with her s-u-v.
That's when they say he drove two blocks up the road...but didn't make it very far before he crashed again.
Madison on cam: "this is the scene of the second accident here on lorane highway and madison.
It's the spot where the witness tells me he approached the man's car after he crashed and din't know what he'd find next."
Sot: "i screamed, don't move him.
Is he alive?
There was a bloody windshield."
Police say dingwall couldn't make a turn and drove through a off an embankment.
They say the s-u-v rolled several times on the 200 block of washington street.
The witness says his neighbor stepped in to help... sot: "he went around to the other side, i guess the driver's store was locked, he went around the other side and the guy started reaching out for him and he pulled him out."
He says this incident is a prime example that eugene is just not what it used to be.
Sot: "this town has just gone way down hill and it's something i've been saying for this last year.
It's terrible this stuff happens but
