Door-to-door distribution of voter slips to 15,89,416 voters of seven Assembly segments in Virudhunagar district is underway.
Block Level Officers are distributing the slips, with photo of voters, in Assembly segments that come under Virudhunagar, Tenkasi and Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituencies, Collector A. Sivagnanam said.
Details of the streets or areas where the distribution is planned for the day is told to voters of the area and the candidates. The slips are handed over only to the voters, or to senior members of the family, and an acknowlegement is recorded in a register. The work is being monitored by Assistant Returning Officers of the respective Assembly segment.
Complaints with regard to distribution of voters slip can be lodged over 04562-1950 and 1800-425-2166.
Meanwhile a total of 4,956 police and other uniformed personnel will be deployed for election duty at 1,881 polling stations in Virudhunagar district on April 18. Among them are Central Paramilitary Force -- 600; Tamil Nadu Special Police -- 360; district police -- 3,152; ex-servicemen - 500; Home Guards - 275 and others 69.
