Triumph Speed Twin Launch Date Revealed!

Triumph will launch the resurrected model of the legendary 1938 Speed Twin. The motorcycle will be launched on April 24, 2019.

The 2019 Speed Twin will use an updated version of the 1,200cc parallel-twin from the Thruxton. The engine updates will include a magnesium cam cover to reduce weight, and a revamped clutch assembly mated to a 6-speed gear box. The 1,200cc engine makes 97hp at 6,750rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,950rpm.

There are many more changes to distinguish the Speed Twin from the Triumph Thruxton, These changes include a 10kg weight reduction, as well as a revised chassis and suspension setup. Front and rear suspension setup is by KYB units – 41mm forks in the front and twin-shocks with adjustable preload at the rear. The front brake setup consists of twin 305mm discs, and Brembo four-piston fixed calipers and twin Nissin calipers and 220mm discs at the rear. The wheels are 17-inch wheels at the front as well as the rear mated to Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. The bike will feature multiple riding modes – Road, Rain and Sport along with switchable traction control.

Once launched, the Triumph Speed twin will be the eldest brother of the Triumph’s modern classic line. We expect the Speed Twin to be priced around the Rs. 10.5 Lakh(ex-showroom) as it will be manufactured in Thailand. There are no direct rivals to the Triumph Speed Twin, but the nearest would be the BMW R nineT and the Ducati Scrambler 1100.
