Unseasonal rains lash Nashik, 4 dead in lightning strike

Four persons were killed in two separate incidents in Maharashtra's district when lightning struck them during unseasonal rains, police said Monday.

Lightning strikes killed three men standing under a tree in Manori village in Dindori taluka and a 40-year-old woman in Chandwad taluka Sunday night.

The deceased are identified as Sagar Gave (19), Anil Gave (32), (18) and Janabai Giri, a local police official said.

Three cows and a buffalo were also killed when they were struck by thunder bolts in and talukas, as unseasonal rain lashed the north district.

The gusty winds uprooted trees at many places, officials said, adding that mango and onion crops was also damaged.

Niphad, Igatpuri, Dindori, Sinnar and talukas received rains.
