Panchkula gets ready for 1,491 disabled voters

PANCHKULA: Stating that 1,491 disabled voters have registered with them from Panchkula district, the election office has said that its officials are getting in touch with them to organise transport for pick-up and drop, in case they need one, on the voting day.
Ambala divisional commissioner Dipti Uma Shankar held a meeting with the Panchkula administration officials in this regard. She discussed about the specific needs of the disabled people on the voting day.
A list of disabled voters and their contacts was also prepared by the officials. The electoral department has been directed to contact every disabled voter in the list.
Apart from pick-up and drop services, special arrangements, including ramps, wheelchairs and toilets will be made at the voting booths.
District electoral officer cum deputy commissioner (DC) Balkar Singh said, "All booths have been asked to be prepared for disabled voters."
Elections in Haryana will be held in the sixth phase and the notification for the same will be issued on April 16. The state will go to poll on May 16. The counting will start on May 23.
There are 62 sensitive polling booths in Panchkula, of which, 50 are highly sensitive. In Kalka, 40 booths are sensitive and 27 of them are highly sensitive.
If they come across any violation of model code of conduct, people can complain either through the C-Vigil app or through the emergency control room hotline 1950.
