Pankaj Modi, younger brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is campaigning for BJP candidate Nainar Nagendran, who is contesting from Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency .

Mr. Pankaj, who arrived in Rameswaram on Saturday, performed a special puja and offered prayers for the return of the Modi government at the Centre and the prosperity of the country before launching the campaign.

The Prime Minister addressed an election rally here on April 13. The next day, Mr. Pankaj began the campaign for the BJP candidate in Rameswaram by distributing pamphlets after visiting APJM Maraikayar, elder brother of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Later, he joined Mr. Nagendran and party leaders, including district president K. Muraleedharan, in garlanding the statue of B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of his 128th birth anniversary at Pullandai.

On Monday, he campaigned for the BJP candidate at Erwadi.

In a brief chat with reporters here, he said he had been touring the country and found a pro-Modi wave more visible. The BJP would capture more than 350 seats and come back to power.

“Mr Modi would assume office as Prime Minister again”, he asserted.

The pro-Modi wave was also visible in Tamil Nadu and the AIADMK-BJP combine would win more than 30 seats, he said.

He said his brother had dedicated his life to the people of the country and had been doing yeoman service to the people as Chief Minister of Gujarat for 14 years and Prime Minister of the country in the last five years, he said.

Claiming that Mr. Modi had given a clean and corruption-free government, he blamed Congress president Rahul Gandhi for levelling false charges against him.
