Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) candidate A. Devadas contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from Ballari Parliamentary Constituency reserved for Scheduled Tribes has been undertaking his poll campaign with a difference. Apart from seeking votes, he has been seeking note (currency) during his padayatra in Ballari on Sunday.

Amid office-bearers and members of SUCI shouting a slogan, “Horatada abhyarthi ge vote kodi, note kodi” (give vote and note for the candidate who is an activist), Mr. Devadas campaigned on the main streets of the city seeking vote and note.

Mr. Devadas, during the padayatra, focussed on the efforts being put in by his party over taking up the case of working class and issues of the common man, mainly with donations collected from the public.

“Major political parties fight elections making use of hefty funds donated by big wigs and corporate houses and after winning the elections, they (political parties) come out with policies and programmes that benefit their donors. SUCI, on its part, would continue to take up the cause of the people and fight relentlessly for their welfare,” he said.

The response was also positive with most of the people, including road users and street vendors, making contributions which would be used to meet his election expenditure.

Radhakrishna Upadya, district SUCI general secretary, M.N. Manjula, K. Somashekar Goud, N. Pramod, Shanta, Govind, Eshwari, among other leaders, accompanied the candidate.
