Challenges offer opportunities to find solutions to elusive problems, V. Sampath, Senior Professor, IIT Madras, said in his Graduation Day address at Chendhuran College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukottai. One needs to be patient and persistent in the process of developing strength in a chosen field, in pursuit of success. Finding solutions to challenges on the personal, professional and scientific fronts are the requisites to move forward in life. Employability can be developed by acquiring speaking, writing, interpersonal relationship, and computer skills, he said. A total of 243 candidates received their degrees.

Engineering is an area spawning plenty of job opportunities, R. Gnanamoorthy, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras, said in his Graduation Day address at A.V.C. College of Engineering, Mayiladuthurai. Prof. Gnanamoorthy cited the presence of umpteen Indian engineers at the top-level in most of the MNCs to support his viewpoint. A total of 453 candidates, including university rank holders, received their degrees. N. Vijayarangan, chairman, AVC Institutions, presided over the function.

Acquiring proficiency over a language other than the mother tongue, with a particular reference to English, was stressed by S. Baskaran, retired Judge, at the Graduation Day function held at Sengamala Thayaar Educational Trust Women’s College, Sundarakottai near Mannargudi, in his Graduation Day address. He distributed graduation degrees to 1,320 students, including university rank holders, in the presence of Correspondent V. Dhivaharan and Principal S. Amudha.

Teaching and non-teaching staff of Meenakshi Chandrasekaran Arts, Science and Education College for Women, Karambayam, Pattukottai, who had attained cent percent attendance during this academic year were honoured during the Annual Day celebration. Prizes were also distributed to the students who had excelled in various competitions held in the college

A two-day seminar on Technology Enabled Teaching-Learning Strategies towards Quality Enhancement in Higher Education, was organised jointly by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Inaugurating the seminar, vice-chancellor S.Velusami pointed that technology enabled teaching-learning has become the need of the hour for classroom teaching. The main objectives of the seminar were enhancing the quality of classroom teaching; implementing new methodologies in teaching-learning process; and using qualitative tools for assessment. Registrar S.A. Dhanaraj gave a presentation on digital learning.
