CHENNAI: A 10-member gang attacked two people near a commercial complex on Pantheon Road in Egmore on Friday. The injured lodged a police complaint. The Egmore police have registered a case and issued a community service register (CSR).
Police said B Venkatachalam, 22, a resident of Alapakkam, and Hasan, of Perambur, would often go to the commercial complex to play snooker along with friends Yaser of Valasaravakkam, and Anaf Khan of Ayanavaram.
On Friday night at around 10.30pm, as Venkatachalam and his friends were coming out of the complex the 10-men group attacked them and left Venkatachalam and Hasan injured. They were later treated at a government hospital.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the duo quarrelled with a few people while playing snooker. Police suspect the attack could be a result of previous enmity.
Meanwhile, police have collected the CCTV camera footage from nearby showrooms and those were installed on Pantheon Road to trace the attackers. Further investigations are on.
