Sanitation staffer’s death: Post-mortem conducted

MOHALI: Postmortem of the 24-year-old sanitation worker, who died while cleaning a sewer on Friday, was conducted at Kurali civil hospital. Cops have initiated inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed the body of the deceased to his family members.


On Friday, a sanitation worker died while cleaning a drain in Kurali. Not only this, two other workers, Lakhan of Hussainpur village and Haneesh Kumar of Ropar, were also hospitalised.


The deceased has been identified as Veere, a resident of Hussainpur village near Ropar.


Station house officer of Kurali police station Sandeep Kaur said Veeru, who was the first one to enter the sewer, died while receiving treatment at the PGI.


He added that the condition of the other two sanitation staffers was stable. They are being treated at Kurali civil hospital.
