Pompeo talks immigration, North Korea on Peru visit(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Saturday (April 13) as part of a tour to shore up regional support for President Donald Trump's hard line stance against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. After a private meeting with Vizcarra, Pompeo held a joint news conference with Peruvian foreign minister Nestor Popolizio where the U.S.'s highest diplomat discussed immigration, Venezuela and North Korea. Pompeo said that he hoped U.S. objectives with regards to Venezuela would be achieved quickly so that Venezuelan migrants could return home. Peru is Pompeo's third leg of a Latin America tour that has already taken him to Chile and Paraguay. He is expected to travel to the Colombian border city of Cucuta on Sunday (April 14), which has received numerous Venezuelan migrants fleeing hunger and violence in their homeland. | |||||
