2 men found dead in Minjur farm well

CHENNAI: An autorickshaw driver and his friend were found dead with injury marks on their bodies in a well on a farm near Minjur on Saturday. Police have formed special teams to solve the case.


The incident came to light on Saturday morning when some villagers visited the farm at Nallur near Minjur. They spotted the bodies floating in the well. On information, personnel from the Minjur police station rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies with the help of the fire and rescue services personnel.


Police examined the bodies and found injuries all over. Police sent the bodies to the government hospital in Ponneri for postmortem.


Preliminary inquiries identified the two as Abdul Gaffur, 28, a resident of Ennore, and his friend Sampath Kumar, a resident of Minjur. Police inquired villagers and the owners of the farm. Police also called forensic experts. A sniffer dog was also pressed into service.


Police are inquiring if the two fell into the well after consuming alcohol and drowned or their business rivals attacked and murdered them and dumped the bodies in the well. The Minjur police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.
