Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to ask the TRS leaders at Monday’s meeting of the extended executive of the party to ensure unanimous election of Zilla Parishad chairmen in majority of the 32 districts which will go to polls.

He might entrust to ministers the responsibility of ensuring that the TRS candidates were elected as chairmen wherever election became inevitable, sources said.

They added that the meeting was convened to fix responsibilities on senior leaders of TRS for the victory of the party candidates in all the zilla parishads. At the Assembly constituency level, the MLAs will be held responsible for the victory of zilla parishad territorial constituency (ZPTC) members and mandal parishad presidents. They will get the support of MLCs and TRS general secretaries in their efforts.

For the election of zilla parishad chairmen, of course, ministers will be held responsible.

The election will take place for 535 ZPTCs and 5,857 MPTCs in the State. The State Election Commission was likely to issue poll notification within two days heeding to the advice of the State government to conduct elections between April 22 and May 14. In this context, Mr. Rao convened the meeting on Monday to initiate steps to gear up the grass roots level TRS workers for elections.

As the elections will be held on party symbols, the TRS president decided to step in personally and speak his mind to the leaders on the strategy to be adopted at the meeting. Mr. Rao was said to be keen on seeing that the elections were one sided in favour of TRS in the background of the party sweeping polls in Assembly and likely to win all the sixteen Parliamentary constituencies. He might ask the leaders to turn to the side of TRS political activists in villages who are neutral.
