Kanpur: In a shocking incident in Fatehpur district, teenage son of a village guard was found murdered and his body was found hanging from a tree in Umargahna village under the limits of Malwa police station on Sunday.
Some locals spotted the body hanging from a tree and informed the police. The local police sent the body for postmortem. The victim was identified as Ankit Sonker (18), son of village ‘chowkidar’- Bodha Sonker, a resident of Umargahna.
According to the police, the assailants had smashed youth’s face with a blunt object and then hanged his body to a tree.
The cause of the death is yet to be confirmed. According to the family, Ankit left house on Saturday evening saying that he was going to nearby fields. When he did not return his family started searching for him. His mobile was also found switched off.
Crime and forensics teams were also rushed to the spot. Ankit’s father works as a ‘chowkidar’ at Umargahna, said the police. “Ankit was pursuing a technical course at government polytechnic,” added the official.
As per the preliminary findings, the murder seems out to be a fallout of illicit-affair, said inspector Malwan Narendra Pratap Singh. “However, we are exploring all possible angles to crack the case at the earliest,” Singh added.
