Udaipur man held with half kg gold
Thiruvananthapuram: Neyyattinkara police arrested a 29-year-old man and seized gold ornaments that come around half kilogram on Saturday. The arrested has been identified as Jagadeesh, son of Babulal, a resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan. He was carrying the gold from Nagarcoil in Tamil Nadu to Mumbai. According to sub-inspector Rakesh, the incident happened at 12 pm.

“The man belongs to Udaipur and he was travelling from Nagarcoil to Mumbai in Kochuveli Express on Saturday. When he came to know about the checking inside the trains, he got off at Neyyattinkara railway station. The officials who were engaged in vehicle checking ahead of election at TB Junction found him wandering. When he saw the police officers he walked in the opposite direction. When interrogated, he appeared to be nervous,” said the Neyysttinkara SI.

The officials then searched his bags and found the gold. “The gold ornaments were new and he lacked valid documents. Thus we seized the gold and took him into custody,” he added. He was presented at sub- divisional magistrate court on Saturday under section 102 CrPC (power of police officer to seize certain property).
