Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil on Sunday said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a great human being and was responsible for building a society on the principles of equality through the Constitution.
He was speaking at the 128th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar organised by the district administration here.
He said Dr. Ambedkar practised higher standards in personal and community activities, thereby urging everyone for the development of the nation as one’s fundamental duty. His birth anniversary should meaningfully be celebrated by upholding the spirit of the Constitution, Mr. Senthil said.
Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Arun Chakravarthy said Dr. Ambedkar had been responsible for India treading the path of progress. Constitution is the framework that has united people of this country. There is no second thought to claim the country has withstood many challenges and grew stronger after Independence only because of the Constitution, he said.
Pancha Tirtha project
Meanwhile, speaking at the celebrations at the district BJP office here, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said the Centre has planned Pancha Tirtha Parikrama project to immortalise Dr. Ambedkar.
He said the previous governments had done nothing in memory of the framer of the Constitution and now the Narendra Modi government has ventured into doing one.
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. too celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti with Managing Director M. Venkatesh and other senior officials garlanding the bust of Dr. Amedkar.
