Use of loudspeakers without permission has been banned in Bhopal till May 27. The returning officer and collector Sudam Khade issued an order on Saturday in view of Lok Sabha elections. According to the order loudspeaker is banned from 10pm to 6am at all public places and permission to use loudspeaker will not be given for more than 6 hours in a day. Khade said loudspeakers cannot be used without permission from collector’s office in view of Lok Sabha elections. Action would be taken against the defaulters under the Noise Pollution Act.
All contestants for Lok Sabha elections will take permission from competent authorities for use of loudspeaker in meetings, rally or campaign. Separate permission will be required for use of loudspeaker mounted on top of vehicles like jeep, truck, tempo, auto, rickshaw etc. The order clearly prohibits use of DJ for electoral activities. The applicant will have to mention the registration number of the vehicle while seeking permission for use of loudspeaker failing which the application will be turned down, said the collector. Vehicles using loudspeakers without permission will be confiscated.
