The District SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) Committee on Saturday took the aerial route to create awareness on voting. In Hubballi and Dharwad, paragliders were hired to spread messages.

In Dharwad, the programme was conducted at Karnatak College Grounds and president of SVEEP Committee and B.C. Satheesha, Dharwad ZP CEO, and others were present.

Paragliders, from Bengaluru-based Aviation and Sports Enterprises, demonstrated and helped others enjoy paragliding for an hour. As the paragliders flew, carrying the message on voting, several onlookers gathered to watch the flight. The expedition covered Kelageri, Sampige Nagar, Srinagar, Saptapur and surrounding areas.

Mr. Satheesha said that the event would attract the youth and the old alike and through the same awareness would also be created. He said that such innovative campaigns for electoral awareness were aimed at addressing the low voter turnout issue in some of the areas. In Hubballi, the event was held at BVB College Ground covering nearby places.
