Inquiry into deaths of 29-year-old woman, newborn

Tirupur: The Veerapandi police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old woman and her newborn baby. The deceased was identified as K Ranjitha of Vaikkalmedu in Muthanampalayam, wife of Karthikeyan. She had delivered a baby girl in a private hospital on Tirupur-Palladam Road in Veerapandi on Saturday. “Stating the condition of both the mother and the baby critical, doctors there referred them to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. But Karthikeyan rushed them to a private hospital on Coimbatore-Trichy Road in Palladam. Doctors there declared the mother and child dead,” a police officer said.
Police have registered the case under section 174 CrPC (suspicious death). TNN
