In a tragic incident, a five-year old kid died after reportedly falling in an open septic tank near an under construction building at Peethalavanipalem area near Maddilapalem under III Town Police Station limits here.

Though the incident occurred on Friday late night, it came to light after the police registered a case on Saturday morning.

According to sources, five-year-old Kadiyala Karthik, an LKG student in private school, was playing nearby the house at Peethalavanipalem area and had suddenly gone missing. Parents and locals started searching for him and finally ended up discovering him in the septic tank.

Doctors declared Karthik brought dead while he was taken to hospital. Post-mortem has been conducted. Meanwhile, parents and locals alleged negligence of the builder as the reason for the death. The locals claimed that they have been warning the builder to close the septic tank, but he did not bother.

A case under Section 174 CrPc has been registered. Investigation is on.
