Police have found the 88-year-old man missing from Brisbane's south-west after upping their search on Sunday morning.

Extra police, including water police, had been sent to look for Heinrich Untersaubach, who had been missing from Sherwood since 11am Saturday.

Mr Untersaubach has been taken to the Mater Hospital for observation.
