The serene surroundings of the scenic Lakkaram tank here came alive with Teppotsavam (float festival) held to mark Sri Ramanavami festival here on Sunday night.
A swan-shaped boat carrying the processional idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita from the temple in the city cruised on the tank even as hordes of devotees watched the spectacular event from vantage positions all along the long Tank Bund and its adjoining localities. Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Mayor G. Papa Lal, Collector R. V. Karnan, several corporators of Khammam Municipal Corporation and others participated in the programme.
An impressive religious procession was organised in the town in connection with the Teppotsavam. Women devotees performed Kolatam en route the procession. A cultural programme was organised ahead of the Teppotsavam at the Tank Bund. The impressive performances by a group of artistes from Hyderabad enthralled the audience.
